Conference Anti-Harassment Policy

We hold everyone to a high level of expectations at all AIM events, whether in-person or online, and have zero tolerance for harassment, including any events held off-site or on campus, and any serving alcoholic beverages. We expect everyone to act professionally, morally, and respectfully at all times. If this is unclear, please see more specific definitions below. If you experience or witness harassment, please feel free to reach out to any of the Organizers of the current AIM event. You may also report harassment to our campus Office for the Prevention of Harassment and Discrimination or reach out to the confidential Path to Care Center

Detailed Conference Conduct Information

At AIM we are dedicated to providing a harassment-free conference experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, age or religion. We do not tolerate harassment of conference participants in any form. Sexual language and imagery is not appropriate for any conference venue, including talks and posters. Conference participants violating these rules may be sanctioned or expelled from the conference [without a refund] at the discretion of the conference organizers.

Harassment includes, but is not limited to:

Drugs & Alcohol

When and if AIM will provides food & drinks, including alcoholic beverages at receptions, the same rules still apply. If you choose to drink alcohol, you must ensure that you drink responsibly. Drinking responsibly involves not drinking till you are “drunk” and eating enough to ensure the effect of alcohol is reduced. We remind you that the use of illegal drugs and excessive consumption of alcohol is prohibited at all times. Alcohol is not an excuse to engage in a harassing manner.

Enforcement

Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately.

Exhibitors at vendor tables are also subject to the anti-harassment policy. In particular, exhibitors should not use sexualized images, activities, or other material.

If a participant engages in harassing behavior, event organizers retain the right to take any actions to keep the event a welcoming environment for all participants. This includes warning the offender or expulsion from the conference (without refund).

Event organizers may take action to redress anything disrupting the event or making the environment hostile for any participants.

We expect participants to follow these rules at all event venues and event-related social activities. We think people should follow these rules outside event activities too!

Reporting

If someone makes you or anyone else feel unsafe or unwelcome, please report it as soon as possible. You may report it to any of the Event Organizers. Harassment and other code of conduct violations reduce the value of our event for everyone. We want you to be happy at our event. People like you make our event a better place. You can make a report either personally or anonymously.

For confidential support, contact the UC Berkeley’s PATH to Care Center. You can set up a confidential appointment with an advocate by calling (510) 642-1988.

The UC Berkeley code of conduct applies to this conference, regardless of the location.
